ROXASA CITY, Capiz – Several residents oppose the construction of a crematorium at Barangay Mongpong here.
Residents signed a petition letter addressed to Mayor Ronnie Dadivas and city officials “strongly opposing” the establishment of the crematorium.
According to City Prosecutor Erwin Ignacio, construction of a crematorium in barangay Mongpong is in violation of the zoning ordinance of the city government considering that the area was classified as residential.
Ignacio and the residents are worried about the health effects of the crematorium
Gaudencio Azarcon said the barangay officials were not informed of the project.
Azarcon also questioned the paper allegedly signed by residents allowing the construction of the crematorium.
They asked the City Engineering Office to stop the construction of the building.
