ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A man from Roxas City was arrested Monday afternoon, June 1, for alleged illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm in Barangay Poblacion, Mambusao, Capiz.
Personnel of the Mambusao Municipal Police Station arrested the suspect, identified only as alias “Toto,” of legal age and a resident of Barangay Bolo, Roxas City.
Police said a concerned citizen reported the presence of the suspect, who was allegedly standing in front of his pickup vehicle while carrying a firearm of unknown caliber.
Responding police officers arrested the suspect and recovered from a sling bag a .38-caliber firearm and six live rounds of ammunition.
Police said the suspect failed to present documents proving the legality of the firearm.
The suspect is in the custody of the Mambusao Municipal Police Station.
Charges for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, are being prepared against him.
