Roxas fire victims to receive homes in Tanzaville

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Twelve families displaced by a July 25 fire in Sitio Looban, Plaridel Street, Barangay 8, will be relocated to Tanzaville in Barangay Tanza, Roxas City.

Barangay 8 Punong Barangay Castor Holce Bialen said barangay officials and Mayor Ronnie Dadivas had finalized the relocation plan.

The displaced families are temporarily staying at the barangay multipurpose hall and day care center.

They are awaiting the final date of their transfer.

Bialen said the beneficiaries were grateful that each family would receive a house and lot at no cost.

The fire affected 11 houses, including three boarding houses, and caused an estimated PHP 120,000 in damage on the morning of Saturday, July 25.

Senior Fire Officer 1 Junemar Galve, public information officer of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Roxas City, said 10 houses were destroyed and one was partially damaged.

About 50 residents were affected by the fire.

Authorities said the structures were made of light materials, allowing the flames to spread quickly.

An initial BFP investigation indicated that an unattended blower may have started the fire, although the final cause remained under investigation.
