Roxas City has recorded the highest number of dengue cases in Capiz, according to the Provincial Health Office.
Based on PHO data, Capiz logged 216 dengue cases from Jan. 1 to April 14, 2026.
Roxas City posted 43 cases with one death during the period. It was followed by Tapaz with 36 cases and one death, Pontevedra with 28 cases, Cuartero with 16, and Panay with 12.
Jeoffry Espiritu, information officer of the Department of Health-Capiz, said dengue cases do not appear only during the rainy season, as unfavorable environmental sanitation practices are also a major factor in the spread of the disease.
He advised the public to continue practicing the 4S strategy to prevent the spread of dengue.
The strategy includes searching for and destroying mosquito breeding sites. It also includes securing self-protection measures.
Health authorities urged the public to support fogging when necessary. They likewise advised residents to seek early medical consultation once symptoms appear.
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease that can cause severe illness and death in some cases, according to the World Health Organization.
Prevention and control of dengue rely mainly on controlling mosquitoes and avoiding mosquito bites, while early detection and access to proper medical care lower the risk of death from severe dengue.
The DOH’s 4S strategy stands for search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, secure self-protection, seek early consultation, and support fogging or spraying in areas with rising cases to prevent an impending outbreak.
