A construction worker who confessed to killing his former live-in partner surrendered to police in Roxas City on Dec. 9, 2025.
Police identified the suspect as Jericho Factolerin Llano, 23, a resident of Brgy. Mansacol, Sigma, Capiz.
Llano surrendered to the Roxas City Airport Police Station around 1 p.m. the same day.
He admitted to investigators that he forced his former partner, identified as alias “Jenny,” 18, of Brgy. Bangon-bangon, Sigma, Capiz, to ingest rat-killer powder and choke her until she died.
He also told police he consumed rat poison afterward due to depression and was brought to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.
The victim was discovered by a lodging house room boy who attempted to wake her at around 1:45 a.m. and found her unresponsive inside the comfort room.
Members of the Roxas Emergency Response Team checked her pulse and transported her to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered a plastic bottle containing black powder beside the victim, which investigators believe was the substance forced into her mouth.
SOCO also noted hematoma marks on her neck, indicating she had been choked.
Police earlier stated that they were reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the lodging house as part of their investigation.
Authorities said further inquiries are ongoing as they prepare the criminal complaint against Llano.
