ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A man who escaped during a recent drug buy-bust operation has been charged with illegal drug possession.
Charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were filed against Deonesio Barrios, also known as Jun Jun.
Barrios fled during a drug buy-bust operation at his residence on McKinley Street, Barangay 1, Roxas City, on the morning of March 28.
The operation was conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Capiz, and the charges were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office.
Authorities recovered 10 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP100,000 during the raid.
Barrios reportedly ran from his house after learning that police operatives were about to serve a court-issued search warrant.
Despite the suspect’s absence, operatives proceeded with the search of his residence.
