ROXAS CITY, Capiz – This city reported 38 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on June 1, 2021, the highest recorded since the pandemic erupted in 2020.
Most of the new cases were relatives and close contacts of previous cases.
Meanwhile, three persons in Barangays 3, Milibili, and Lawaan succumbed to COVID-19, bringing the death toll in the city to 63.
Roxas City has 1,374 total number of confirmed cases, including 223 active cases and 1,088 recoveries.
Meanwhile the province of Capiz recorded 79 more new COVID cases on June 1.
Apart from the 38 cases in Roxas City, the new cases in the province are in Panit-an (9), Jamindan (8), Mambusao and Dumalag (3 each); Pontevedra, Cuartero and Dao (2 each); and one each in Ivisan, Dumarao, Pilar and Sapian.
The data also showed that 59 persons have recovered while three died.
The province has 2,824 confirmed COVID-19 cases (2,238 recoveries, 137 deaths, and 449 active cases).
