ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Jail Superintendent Julius Cesar Chavez said the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Roxas City District Jail is taking steps to protect the health of persons deprived of liberty during the summer season.
In a media interview Saturday, April 4, Chavez said the facility has enough ventilators and water supplies for the hot season.
He said persons deprived of liberty have been allowed to leave their cells temporarily to seek cooler areas within the Roxas City District Jail compound.
“We have medical personnel at the jail facility that could provide immediate treatment for ailments that arise this summer season including those illnesses being suppressed by the inmates,” he said.
Chavez said one concern is a prolonged power outage because the generator set cannot sustain electricity for the entire facility for long periods.
He said jail officials do not disregard the health concerns of detainees and will keep the welfare of persons deprived of liberty a priority.
