ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A residential house was partially damaged in a fire Saturday afternoon, April 18, in Sitio San Isidro, Barangay Cagay, Roxas City, with property losses estimated at PHP 270,000.
SFO1 Junmar Galve, information officer of the Bureau of Fire Protection in Roxas City, identified the homeowner as Adonis Roxas.
Galve said a concerned citizen alerted firefighters, prompting an immediate response.
No one was injured in the incident.
Arson investigators are still investigating the cause of the fire.
The fire was declared out at 4:50 p.m.
Meanwhile, the BFP in Roxas City recorded nine fire incidents from Jan. 1 to April 18, 2026.
Of the total, six were structural fires, two were nonstructural fires involving grass, and one was a transport fire incident.
Galve urged residents to clear grass and other combustible materials around their homes to help prevent fires from spreading, especially during the dry season.
He also advised the public to unplug electrical appliances when not in use, shut off LPG tanks and switch off circuit breakers before leaving the house.
