ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Roxas City Sangguniang Panlungsod member Fernando Bordoy Viterbo is pushing for mandatory drug testing for all city government workers, including city officials.
Viterbo said they want government workers to serve as examples in the campaign against illegal drugs.
“We will make sure that in the city government, no one is using illegal drugs,” he said.
He said the proposed measure would cover not only city officials and employees, but also barangay officials, tanods and barangay workers.
Viterbo added that if any of those covered test positive for illegal drug use, corresponding sanctions under the law would be imposed, including possible dismissal from service.
He said the drug testing would be conducted through Department of Health-accredited facilities to ensure accurate results.
“Paano kita ka bato kun kita mismo indi role model with regards sa pag fight against illegal drugs? Siguruhon anay namon nga malimpyo kita antes kita makipagbato,” he stressed.
