ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The Roxas City government has implemented an energy conservation policy in compliance with and support for the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. amid concerns over power use in government offices and rising fuel prices linked to tensions in the Middle East.
Under a memorandum issued by City Administrator Lorie Belle Usison, all offices were instructed to turn off lights from noon to 1 p.m.
The memorandum also directed offices to maximize natural sunlight and limit the use of air-conditioning units.
Employees were also told to turn off computers, printers, photocopiers and other equipment when not in use, or to activate energy-saving or sleep mode on computers.
Department heads, unit heads and heads of offices were directly reminded to strictly enforce the policy in their respective offices.
The Roxas City government will also implement a four-day workweek, with Friday designated as a nonworking day.
President Marcos earlier ordered the temporary implementation of a four-day workweek in some executive branch offices beginning March 9 as part of the government’s energy conservation measures.
