Roxas City electrocution leads to homicide complaint

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A homicide complaint was filed Thursday morning, Aug. 27, against the manager and caretaker of a compound in Barangay Dumulog, where a 17-year-old senior high school student died after touching an electrified barbed-wire fence Aug. 1.
The complaint was filed with the Office of the City Prosecutor against Glenda Barrala, 45, the compound’s caretaker, and Renaydo Dadivas, 56, manager of Madia-as Realty Corp.
Barrala and Dadivas are residents of Barangay Milibili, Roxas City.
Police identified the victim only as “Angel,” a resident of New Road in Barangay Banica.
Investigators said Angel was passing through the area after a brief jog at the beach.
Police said she apparently did not know that electricity was running through the fence.
The teenager was sitting on a concrete bench beneath the fence when she reportedly touched it and was electrocuted.
Angel was unresponsive when responders arrived and was declared dead at the scene.
An autopsy conducted at Obamos Funeral Homes found a burn on her back and a wound on her neck consistent with electrocution.
The electrical current affected her heart and caused her death, according to the autopsy findings.
Police initially had not specified the exact complaint to be filed.
