ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Councilor Moreno Gonzaga vowed to look for solutions to the rampant prostitution here and the illegal operations of some KTV bars.
Gonzaga said he will bring the problem to the Sanggunian Panlungsod so that his colleagues can help look for solutions as well.
He will also invite the Bureau of Fire Protection, Roxas City Police Station, City Health Office, City Social Welfare and Development Office and the City Licensing Division to a meeting.
Gonzaga said that the city government should look for solutions to the plight of commercial sex workers in the city streets, particularly at McKinley Street, Magallanes Street and Roxas Avenue.
He suggested that a task force against prostitution should be established to check KTV bars and other drinking establishments.
Gonzaga said he personally saw commercial sex workers in the city during his nightly rounds.
“We should also check those establishments if their operations are legal or not,” he added.
He said that owners of drinking establishments should prohibit minors from drinking liquor, particularly during daytime.
