ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A boarding house was destroyed in a fire around midnight Thursday, April 2, on San Roque Street in Barangay II, Roxas City.
The fire razed the rear portion of the boarding house owned by a resident of Pontevedra, Capiz, identified only as Pepito, and managed by caretaker Maggie Bornales.
No one was injured in the incident.
Authorities said no one was inside the establishment when the fire broke out.
About seven firetrucks responded to the blaze, which spread quickly because the rear portion of the structure was made of light materials.
Arson investigators from the Roxas City Bureau of Fire Protection are determining the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
