The 2020 Brave CF Fighter of the Year just lost his chance at the lightweight belt.
Filipino MMA fighter Rolando Dy failed to secure the much-needed victory against Abdisalam Kubanychbek of Kyrgyzstan after suffering a match stoppage as the second-round was about to end.
Dy had a lot of trouble containing the surging Kyrgyz as the latter’s aggressive grappling game proved to be too much.
The grappler from Kyrgyzstan relentlessly applied pressure from the beginning of the match until the stoppage. Dy’s offensive game was totally negated as he was forced to defend against the aggressive Kyrgyz.
Dy’s weak ground game was exposed after failing to counter Kubanychbek’s takedowns.
Dy never really got into his usual striking game due to Kubanychbek’s constant pressure to take him down.
With Dy’s disappointing loss, his shot at the BRAVE CF lightweight championship belt will be delayed as Kubanychbek will most likely take the spot.
