ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The road clearing operations by the city government on Monday was generally peaceful and successful.
Ronald Amigo, Assistant Department Head of the Roxas City Government, cited the cooperation of the residents, vendors, business establishments and the private sectors for the successful operation.
The city government resumed the road clearing operations around the city proper led by the Road Clearing Task Force.
The task force is headed by the City Engineer’s Office with Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Roxas City Police Station, Bureau of Fire Protection – Roxas City Fire Station, City Health Office, Traffic Management Unit (TMU), the City Disaster Risk Reduction Office (CDRRMO) and other agencies.
Amigo lauded the TMU for the orderly flow of traffic while the operations were conducted.
He added that some vendors asked for two more days to remove structures that obstruct the area.
City Engineer Noel Laminares said the clearing operations were conducted at Arcenas Trade Center (TATC), Burgos Talipapa, Roxas Avenue, and other areas where traffic jams always occur.
He said the operations were in accordance with the policy established by the national government.
The city government conducted information drives to inform the public and the business sector of the operations which started a year ago. He stressed that the said operation focused on sidewalk obstructions and illegally parked vehicles.
