Instead of reaching Bacolod City, a man from Mandurriao, Iloilo City landed behind bars after being caught with illegal drugs.
The suspect, identified as alias Jian, 27, of Barangay Navais, Mandurriao, was arrested after security personnel at the Dumangas Ro-Ro Passenger Terminal in Barangay Sapao, Dumangas, Iloilo, found suspected dried marijuana leaves in his possession around 9:37 p.m. on March 18.
A security screener discovered the illegal drugs inside a yellow pouch tucked into the left-side front knee area of Jian’s pants.
Police Executive Master Sergeant Kim John Banzon, chief investigator of the Dumangas Municipal Police Station, said the suspect claimed he was traveling to Negros Occidental for his cellphone buy-and-sell business.
Authorities also confiscated a disposable lighter, an improvised disposable lighter, and identification cards from Jian.
On the same day, a truck driver was also caught with drug paraphernalia at the same pier.
Meanwhile, on March 16, authorities seized dried marijuana leaves from another Ro-Ro passenger.
