The Rizal Memorial Sports Complex football field has officially received the FIFA ‘Quality Pro’ certification, signifying it meets the highest global standards for professional football and international competition.
The announcement was made during a special Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum on Tuesday, jointly led by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and E-Sports International, the company behind the field’s refurbishment.
FIFA Quality Pro is the top-tier rating under the FIFA Quality Programme and is awarded to synthetic turf fields that meet the most rigorous requirements for performance, safety, and durability.
“I’m glad to inform you that Rizal Memorial Stadium is now officially a FIFA Quality Pro certified field,” said Audris Romualdez, managing director of E-Sports International. “I want to thank the PSC for the trust, for allowing us to build champions with them.”
PSC Chairman Richard Bachmann said the renovation marks a significant step in revitalizing one of the country’s oldest and most iconic football venues.
“The ultimate goal for PSC is to make it [the football field] alive again,” Bachmann said. “And we want to thank E-Sports for helping us and giving us quality turf which everyone can enjoy.”
The entire project was completed in just one month and was tested on April 11 before formally receiving its FIFA Quality Pro certification on May 2.
E-Sports International will provide one year of free field servicing, along with maintenance equipment and training for PSC personnel.
E-Sports General Manager Pam Romualdez highlighted that the company is expanding beyond football field rehabilitation, with ongoing projects such as the country’s first and largest skate park and multiple certified sports facilities nationwide.
“We also do a lot of recreational spaces, obstacle courses, outdoor fitness spaces for developers, and multi-purpose sports courts,” she said. “They’re all FIFA certified, FIVB certified, badminton certified, and ITF certified.”
Among local governments, Lanao del Norte, under Congresswoman Imelda Dimaporo, has tapped E-Sports to upgrade the Mindanao Civic Center, a move that signals growing national interest in world-class athletic infrastructure.
The FIFA Quality Pro certificate is valid for one year and is distinct from the standard FIFA Quality mark, which carries a three-year validity but lower performance thresholds.
The new certification is expected to boost the venue’s appeal for hosting elite-level matches, aligning with national efforts to grow football and elevate Philippine sports facilities to international standards.
