Police Major Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 1, said Senador was on his way home on a motorcycle when two unidentified men on another motorcycle shot him then fled.
The victim succumbed to three gunshot wounds.
Police recovered from the scene three cartridges of .9mm-caliber ammunition.
Sarona said the victim recently received a threat.
“May kaaway ni daw siya pero for personal reasons siguro, then gin threat daw siya na patyon,” he added.
Sarona said they already have a person of interest in the case.
The victim’s wife told the police that her husband was reportedly involved in illegal drugs.
Sarona said that even some of their detainees knew of the victim’s alleged link in the illegal drug trade.
But police are checking if Senador is on their list of alleged drug peddlers.
