Rider killed in road mishap

Another motorcycle rider was killed following a vehicular incident afternoon of July 25, 2022 in Balasan, Iloilo.
Police identified the fatality as Robinson Villanueva, Jr., a resident of Barangay Gimamanay, Balasan.
Villanueva came from Balasan town proper and was on his way home when the incident happened.
Police reports claimed that he allegedly lost control of his motorcycle upon reaching Purok 1 in Barangay Dolores.
He encroached on the opposite side of the road and bumped into an approaching tricycle.
The tricycle driver, Eron Ballener, 31, of Barangay Quiasan, Balasan was also wounded during the mishap.
Both drivers were rushed to Jesus Colmenares District Hospital for treatment, but Villanueva was declared dead on arrival.
According to reports, Villanueva was under the influence of liquor when the incident happened.
Ballener was already placed under police custody.
Villanueva’s family has already intimated no plans of pursuing criminal charges against Ballener.
