A 21-year motorcycle rider died in a road mishap on Christmas day in Oton, Iloilo.
Police identified the fatality as John Carlo Sales, a resident of Barangay Trapiche, Oton.
Major Fernand Limbungan, Oton police chief, said Sales was on his way home when the incident happened.
Witnesses claimed Sales was zigzagging while driving through Trapiche village around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
He then encroached the opposite lane and collided with an Isuzu Sportivo AUV driven by Arnold Bico of Hamtic, Antique.
Sales was thrown off his motorcycle and slammed his head on the pavement.
Limbungan noted that Sales was drunk and was not wearing a crash helmet when the incident happened.
He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Bico turned himself in to police authorities.
But Limbungan said Bico was already released from detention after both camps reached an amicable settlement.
Sales’ family has also signed an affidavit of desistance.
