Rider killed, another hurt in road mishaps

A motorcycle rider was killed in a road mishap Monday in Guimbal, Iloilo.
Police identified the victim as Randy Tatud, 33, a resident of Barangay Balantad C- Fruto, Guimbal.
Police Lieutenant Nelson Caro, Guimbal police chief, said Tatud was a public utility jeepney (PUJ) driver plying the Arevalo, Iloilo City route.
The victim went to Oton for the fiesta and was on his way home when the incident happened. He was navigating Sitio Kalawidan, Barangay Igcocolo when he rammed into a cement railing.
Caro said the victim slammed his head and left shoulder on the pavement. He claimed the victim was drunk.
Tatud did not wear a crash helmet when the incident happened. He was rushed to Rep. Pedro Trono Memorial District Hospital Jr where he was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, another motorcycle rider was also brought to the same hospital shortly after Tatud’s accident.
But Michael Tacdoro was fortunate to survive despite injuries to his chin, mouth, and knees after he ran over a dog that was crossing Barangay Bacan, Tubungan town.
The victim is still recuperating in the hospital.
