A driver was killed after his motorcycle rammed into a 10-wheeler truck parked on the roadside in Pototan, Iloilo afternoon of July 23.
Police identified the fatality as Harvie dela Cruz, 24, a resident of Barangay Dongsol, Pototan. He was rushed to the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan town but was declared dead on arrival.
Staff Sergeant Raffy Gonzales, Pototan PNP traffic investigator, said dela Cruz came from Dongsol village and was on his way to the town proper when the incident happened along Barangay Cahaguikican.
According to Marlon Dio, 46, of Barangay Mansaya, La Paz, Iloilo City, he parked his Fuso truck (license plate CAT6844) on the road shoulder to buy water from a store nearby.
As he was about to board the truck, Dio allegedly heard a loud thud from behind.
When he checked, he saw the bloodied dela Cruz on the ground.
Gonzales said they took Dio in their custody. But they may release him as both parties are in talks for a settlement.
