Rider dies in Santa Barbara crash

A motorcycle rider died following a road crash on the afternoon of June 23 in Santa Barbara, Iloilo.
The fatality, identified by police as alias “Alex,” 48, of Fairville Subdivision in Santa Barbara, suffered injuries to different parts of his body.
Police said Alex was driving a Honda Click 125 from Santa Barbara to Zarraga when the crash happened around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday along Barangay Bita-og Taytay in Santa Barbara.
His motorcycle collided with an Isuzu D-Max pickup driven by alias “Reuben,” 52, of Barangay Minanga, Dueñas, Iloilo.
Reuben was traveling from Iloilo City toward Pototan town when the collision occurred.
Capt. Raphy Señeres, Santa Barbara police chief, said both vehicles failed to yield at the bypass road intersection, resulting in the crash.
Alex was wearing a protective helmet at the time of the incident.
Police said the impact of the collision caused fatal injuries.
Alex was taken to the Western Visayas Sanitarium and General Hospital in Santa Barbara but died while undergoing treatment.
Reuben was immediately placed under police custody.
Señeres said a complaint for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide has been filed against the pickup driver.
