PAVIA, Iloilo — A motorcycle rider died after crashing into a truck parked by the roadside in Barangay Ungka 2 late Friday night.
Police identified the fatality only as alias Jason, 30, a utility worker from Barangay Pungtod, Cabatuan, Iloilo.
Reports said Jason was on his way home from Barangay Dungon, Jaro, Iloilo City, when the crash happened around 10:45 p.m. Friday.
Before the incident, he had drinks with his brother-in-law.
The two were traveling on separate motorcycles.
Reports said Jason passed through the Ungka flyover even though motorcycles are prohibited there.
He then sped off and crashed into a truck parked outside the Coca-Cola Iloilo plant.
Lt. Gary Tayongtong, deputy chief of the Pavia police, said the truck was waiting for its turn to enter the plant when the incident happened.
Authorities said Jason was wearing a helmet, but the impact caused a fatal head injury.
Members of the Pavia Emergency Responders brought him to Asia Pacific Medical Center, where he was later declared dead.
Meanwhile, police took the truck driver, 47-year-old Renan of Barangay Hoskyn, Jordan, Guimaras, into custody.
