More police personnel have been deployed in key areas of Mandurriao district, the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) confirmed over the weekend.
The deployment followed a robbery incident at the parking lot of SM City Iloilo on Sept. 3.
Iloilo City police chief Col. Kim Legada said 30 personnel from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) 6 were assigned to conduct mobile, motorcycle, and foot patrols in Mandurriao starting Sept. 3.
The augmentation aims to prevent crimes in areas under the jurisdiction of Police Station 10.
The 30 officers are currently on detailed service, but plans are underway for their permanent assignment once RMFB-6 receives additional personnel.
Western Visayas police director Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan ordered the augmentation a day after the robbery involving a 61-year-old female physician, who is the wife of a retired police colonel.
The suspect was arrested within 24 hours of the incident.
