Rey Remogat leaves UE, set to boost the UP Fighting Maroons in UAAP Season 88

The University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons just fortified its backcourt rotation after tapping the services of former University of the East (UE) Red Warriors superstar Rey Remogat announced last January 29, 2024.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Remogat already bade the UE community goodbye and thanked all his coaches, teammates, and the school who helped him in his first two years in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament scene.

“I am eternally grateful for the opportunities, friendships, and experiences that I have made as a player of UE. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for allowing me to once be one of UE’s warrior,” wrote Remogat.

Several days ago, rumors already spread that the spitfire point guard would be transferring to the Fighting Maroons. However, Remogat said to the reporters that there is still no definite plan regarding his basketball future because he is also receiving offers to play overseas.

Now that Remogat officially announced his new home, the Fighting Maroons will gain another shot at redemption after losing to the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers during the grand finals of the UAAP Season 86.

Remogat had a stellar UAAP season with the Red Warriors after getting hailed as a member of the Mythical Team while averaging 16.5 points, 7.9 assists, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game.

Despite failing to lead UE to a Final Four appearance, Remogat still earned the respect of his peers after helping the Red Warriors put up a fight against NU, Ateneo, and DLSU.

Remogat is expected to take over the throne of UP’s premier point guard JD Cagulangan who will play his final season as a member of the Fighting Maroons.

“I look forward to learning from Coach Gold and experiencing the support of the UP community. UP, here I come. UP Fight!” Remogat said.
