Love thy neighbor. Or else…
A retired Philippine Army soldier was arrested in a gun raid early morning of Dec 7, 2020 in Miag-ao, Iloilo.
The operation against 60-year-old Leopoldo Sentones II, was carried out following complaints from his neighbor in the hinterland village of Brgy. San Jose.
A composite team from the Miag-ao Police Station and the 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company conducted the search and seizure operation on Sentones’ house.
The operation was authorized by Search Warrant No. 17-2020 issued by Executive Judge Nelita Jesusa Bacaling of the Regional Trial Court Branch 72 in Guimbal, Iloilo on De. 4, 2020.
Recovered during the operation were a caliber .45 pistol (serial number 014339) and two magazines with 17 ammunition.
Captain Joevito Boce, Miag-ao police chief, said they received complaints against Sentones for illegal discharge of firearm.
His neighbor claimed that the suspect’s acts caused fear in the village.
“Upon checking, we learned that no firearm was registered under his name,” Boce said.
Sentones is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
