Retired cop, driver killed in road mishap

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A retired police officer and a driver died in a road collision Wednesday afternoon at Barangay Taft in Tapaz, Capiz.

The victims were identified as Merlyn Catorce, 63, a retired policewoman from Barangay Malitbog, Tapaz; and motorcycle driver Deoluden Carcillar, 50, of Calinog, Iloilo.

Investigation conducted by Tapaz Municipal Police Station indicated that Catorce and Carcillar were bound for Tapaz town proper on a motorcycle when the incident happened.

Carcillar tried to overtake a bus but he sideswiped an elf truck driven by Conradelf Corros, 29, of Barangay Ungka, Pavia, Iloilo.

The two were taken to Tapaz District Hospital but they were declared dead on arrival.

Corros surrendered to the police after the incident.
