BACOLOD City – The remains of a mother who drowned in a river were retrieved at Purok Bagong Silang, Barangay Maao, Bago City, Negros Occidental last Thursday, three days after she was reported missing.
Myra Gargaceran, 43, was found by a resident floating in a river around 4:30 p.m.
The area is 15 kilometers away from Purok Narra in the said village where she drowned along with her 11-year-old daughter on Aug. 29, according to Police Master Sergeant Erwin Jamandre, case investigator of Bago City Police Station.
Jamandre said a resident reported it to the authorities, prompting them to respond to the area along with the victim’s husband.
Gargaceran tried to save her daughter when the latter tried to retrieve her slippers from the strong river current brought about by heavy rains last Monday. However, both of them drowned.
Her daughter was found several hours after the incident.
