ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Mayor Roberto “Nonong” Palomar of Tapaz, Capiz has sworn in the new village chief of Brgy. Roosevelt following the death of Julie Catamin, 49, last Sunday morning in Calinog, Iloilo.
Palomar administered the oath of Erlinda Geromiano Caro Monday morning as the new punong barangay of Roosevelt.
Caro replaced Catamin being the number one barangay kagawad or council member.
“Huwag kang matakot. Gawin mo lang ang tama at ang iyong trabaho,” Palomar told Caro after the oathtaking.
The mayor has offered a P300,000 bounty to entice informants who can point to the suspect in the killing of Catamin.
He also condemned the brutal killing of the lady village chief who was gunned down by riding-in-tandem gunmen at Barangay Malitbog, Calinog around 8:45 a.m. Sunday.
Palomar described Catamin as a dedicated public official who wanted Brgy. Roosevelt to become a peaceful place.
Catamin was recently in the spotlight for vocally denouncing the Rizal Day raids in Tapaz, Capiz.
Catamin had asserted that he knew their constituents and most of those who were arrested during the raid were ordinary farmers and innocent elderly.
