ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The remains of two Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Capiz who died of suffocation in Kuwait arrived in Pilar, Capiz, on Friday morning, December 13.
Relatives became emotional as they received the bodies of Janeth Delgado of Barangay Poblacion and Kien Barros of Barangay Casanayan at the Roxas City Airport.
The victims died on December 2, 2024, after their employer’s house caught fire. Both were trapped in a bathroom with no exit, where they succumbed to suffocation.
Delgado and Barros were supposed to return home on December 26, 2024, upon the completion of their contracts.
Pilar Mayor Arnold Perez said the municipal government has been providing financial assistance to the victims’ families.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has also extended support, including defraying burial expenses and offering aid to the bereaved families.
