BACOLOD CITY – The Victorias City Police Station in Negros Occidental is planning to bury the remains of an unidentified man who was brutally murdered over the weekend.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Corpuz, Victorias City police chief, said some families reached out to the police to check the identity of the victim but none of them has identified the body.
The body was found Sunday by a barangay watchman at Canetown Subdivision, Barangay 19-A, with an “I love drugs” placard beside the victim.
The victim was described by police to be of slender build, fair complexioned, around 5 feet and 5 inches tall, and 45 to 60 years old.
He had two gunshot wounds, his face was wrapped with plastic bag and packaging tape, and his legs hogtied.
He also had cracked ribs and both his ears were cut off.
Corpuz said they received information that the victim was a resident of either Silay City or Bacolod City, but they have yet to confirm it.
Although there was a placard linking the victim to illegal drugs, Corpuz said they are looking at other possible angles.
The police chief said the victim may have been a victim of revenge killing based on the brutality he suffered.
