ILOILO CITY — A 22-year-old man listed among Western Visayas’ most wanted persons was arrested in Estancia, Iloilo, on the afternoon of Oct. 5.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Ating,” who was arrested at his home in Barangay Tacbuyan, Estancia.
Members of the Estancia Municipal Police Station arrested the suspect by virtue of a warrant for two counts of statutory rape.
No bail was recommended for his temporary release.
Lt. Adrian Baligod, Estancia police chief, said the suspect was ranked No. 3 on the regional most wanted persons list.
Police said Ating’s arrest forms part of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s continuing efforts to locate and apprehend wanted persons as part of its intensified campaign against criminality.
In September, the IPPO recorded the arrests of 158 wanted individuals during 157 operations across the province.
Of those arrested from Sept. 1 to 30, 58 were classified as most wanted persons, while 100 were listed as other wanted persons.
The Pavia Municipal Police Station recorded the highest number of arrests with 15 wanted persons, followed by the Pototan and Carles municipal police stations with nine arrests each.
