BACOLOD City – A suspected member of the New People’s Army (NPA), who was wanted for arson was arrested at Barangay Mabini, Escalante City, Negros Occidental last Monday.
Personnel of the Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company, Escalante City Police Station, Toboso Municipal Police Station, Regional Mobile Force Batallion – 6, Army’s 79th Infantry Battalion (IB), and Military Intelligence Batallion served an arrest warrant against Dandy Jimenez, 39, of San Jose, Toboso town.
Jimenez has a standing warrant of arrest for violation of Presidential Decree No. 1613 (Amending the Law of Arson) issued by Judge Katherine A. Go dated February 2, 2009.
In a press release, Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-6, said Jimenez is an alleged member of the Northern Negros Front, Kilusang Rehiyon-Negros Cebu/Bohol/Siquijor (KR-NCBS), Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP)-NPA-National Democratic Front (NDF) operating in the first district of the province.
The PRO-6 said that based on reports, Jimenez was one of the suspects in the burning of the transloading facility of the Victorias Milling Corporation in Barangay San Jose, Toboso town sometime in 2009.
Jimenez is presently in the custody of Toboso Municipal Police Station and is scheduled to be turned over to the court.
