BACOLOD City – A member of the New People’s Army (NPA) voluntarily submitted himself to the authorities in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental last Saturday.
Police withheld the name of the 48-year-old rebel returnee for his safety.
The former NPA member surrendered to the personnel of Sipalay City Police Station, Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU), Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU)-6, and the Army’s 15th Infantry Battalion (IB).
Police Major Alvimar Flores of PIU, said the former rebel returned to the folds of the law because he could no longer take fighting against the government.
His life was also already in danger in the armed revolutionary movement, he added.
The rebel returnee turned over to the government forces a .357 magnum revolver with six live ammunition, and a live hand grenade.
