RBJR Construction reigns supreme in Coach A 10-U hoops tourney

After two months of intense basketball action, the young and talented hoopers from RBJR Construction were hailed as champions of the Coach A 10-under league.

RBJR Construction survived a tough challenge from Alicia’s Batchoy, 67-61, and capped off its magical season with the championship trophy at the Angelicum School Iloilo basketball gym.

The championship showdown was a nip-and-tuck affair from start to finish, but RBJR Construction found another gear in the final frame, outlasting Alicia’s Batchoy with an efficient two-way performance in the most crucial stretch of the fourth quarter.

RBJR Construction was led by Most Valuable Player Clint Dela Cruz, backstopped by Mythical Team members Rafael Oñate and Theo Ruben Beup.

The championship team also had two of the tournament’s Most Improved Players, Vilmer Caligan III and Calvin Avery Valencia.

Completing the squad are Kyrie James Padrigo, Keith Marcus Macali, Julian Kristoff Po, Joaquin Chase Go, Alessandro Rafael Acurantes, and Hanns Ivar Chua.

The team was mentored by one of the most prominent basketball players in the City of Love, Peter Oñate, who brought out the best in his young and energetic wards.

“I just want to thank Coach A for creating a platform especially for our developing players who need more playing time, practice, and experience,” said Oñate in an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.

“Thank you, Coach A, for giving our kids a chance to grow both on and off the court. This is a great opportunity where kids can go out, play, and enjoy the game.”

On the other hand, Alicia’s Batchoy was bannered by Rhodelle Mirasol, Alonzo Chiang, Liam Marquis Javellana, John Carlo Buenaflor, Stefan Dwyane Yap, Vhal Krismar Calopez, Jose Carlos Rolida, Caleb James Denila Corro, Marcus Solinap, Francis Xavier Salcedo, and Kriston L-Jay Jucaban.

“Overwhelming gid ang result sang tournament. The main aim of developing every player was truly achieved!” said Coach Nabo in an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.

“Beyond the games, the brotherhood and friendship among all the 10-U players are thriving big time. Proud gid kita sa inyo, mga bata! This is more than just basketball!”

After the successful 10-U tournament, Coach Nabo and the rest of the league partners will shift their focus to the 13-U category, which will begin on Sept. 26, 2026.
