Raymond Almazan declines Japanese B.League offer

After signing Thirdy Ravena and reaching out to Calvin Abueva, Japan’s B.League targeted Meralco Bolts’ star center Raymond Almazan as their next recruit.

Almazan received a direct message from American-Japanese guard Samuel Sawaji who is currently playing for the Tokyo Cinq Reves and happens to also work on the social media platform for one of the most successful agencies in Japan.

Sawaji wrote in his message, “They have told me you are a player they would have interest in helping continue succeed as a pro. I can send you more information if you are interested?”

Sawaji is already a veteran player in the Japanese league, having played eight years while also scouting and recruiting players across Southeast Asia.

However, the 6’8’’ member of the Gilas Pilipinas pool said no to the offer due to his ongoing contract with Meralco in the PBA where he signed a three-year max deal.
