Rape suspect nabbbed after 19 years in hiding

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A man long wanted for three counts of rape was arrested by the police on Tuesday here.
Felix Valbarez Jr. of Sitio Proper Brgy. Basiao lvisan, Capiz did not resist when members of Ivisan and Roxas City police collared him at a relative’s house on Arnaldo Boulevard here.
The warrant for his arrest was issued by the late Regional Trial Court Judge Salvador Gubaton on April 19, 2000.
The suspect is facing three counts of rape in Criminal Case Nos. 5783, 5784 and 5785 with no bail recommended.
The suspect went into hiding after the charges were filed against him.
Meanwhile, Deton Samonte, 39, and Garry Ariza, 34, both of Brgy. Bolo here were arrested for qualified theft.
The warrant for their arrest was issued by Manila RTC Judge Tita Bughao Alisnag on Sept. 22, 2010 with P47,000 bail each for their temporary liberty.
The suspects are presently under the custody of the Roxas City police station.
