BACOLOD CITY — Police are searching for a 58-year-old rape suspect who escaped from the custodial facility of the E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station in Negros Occidental on Tuesday, just a week after his arrest.
A flash alarm was issued by local police on their official social media page to aid in locating the suspect, who is known by the aliases “Ed” and “Bebeng.”
He was arrested in Barangay Tuburan on Sept. 1 based on a warrant of arrest for qualified rape of a minor.
The warrant, which carries no bail recommendation, was issued and signed by a court in Silay City on Aug. 29, 2025.
As of this writing, police have not disclosed how the suspect managed to escape, stating that their focus remains on the ongoing manhunt.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the E.B. Magalona Municipal Police Station or call their hotline at 0910-322-2247 or 0998-598-7419.
