Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas expressed dismay over the statements of Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) head Norman Tabud that his office lacks resources to monitor business establishments in the city that lack business permits.
“If he cannot do it, he can resign. For a person who is holding that position and to say that he has no resources, he should resign, that should be his new year’s resolution,” Treñas lamented on Friday.
Treñas was reacting to the statements of Tabud in a radio interview last week.
According to Tabud, his office has limited resources and personnel to efficiently monitor establishments in the city that failed to secure business permits.
This, after the BPLO discovered that Malabanan Siphoning Services was operating without a business permit.
Tabud said the Manila-based establishment had been using dummy operators to do business in the city.
But, Treñas was not impressed by the statements of Tabud who stressed that the BPLO head could have sought help from the mayor for additional resources.
“Ano nga resources? Tawo? May tawo siya. Kon kinangla niya dugang, hambal siya sa akon. Motorsiklo? Salakyan? Pwede ko man siya baklan,” the mayor said.
Treñas also warned other department heads that they should take initiative and have creativity in performing their jobs and should not wait for commands from their superiors.
“Amo na akon nabudlayan, certain people should be creative in their jobs they should not wait for me to tell me what to do. Mga tawo nga hopeless, should resign. The city should look for people who are more proactive we cannot afford to have department heads who are not proactive and helpless. If I can’t do my job, I will resign,” he said.
