PWD mistakenly hacked by neighbor

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The left hand of a 20-year-old person with a disability (PWD) was severely cut after he was mistakenly hacked by a 36-year-old neighbor on Sunday afternoon, August 4, in Barangay Quinat-uyan, Maayon, Capiz.
The police identified the victim as alias “Jun-jun” of Barangay Poblacion Tabuc, while the suspect was alias “Peping,” a laborer and resident of Barangay Quinat-Uyan, both in Maayon, Capiz.
Reports from the Maayon PNP said the victim was mistakenly tagged as a robber who had victimized several individuals in the past days.
The suspect was arrested by the police during a follow-up operation but was released on Monday morning, August 5, after the detention period lapsed.
The suspect apologized to the victim and promised to shoulder all the expenses incurred during the victim’s hospitalization.
