PWD Killed in Aklan Road Crash

A person with a disability on his way to attend a Misa de Gallo mass died in a vehicular accident early on December 18 in Lezo, Aklan.
The victim, identified as alias Gerry, 29, of Barangay Sta. Cruz, Lezo, was walking to church when he was struck by a motorcycle around 3:55 a.m. in front of Lezo Integrated School in Poblacion, Lezo.
Police identified the suspect as alias Ronald, 31, of Barangay Cabayugan, Malinao, Aklan.
Ronald claimed he was on his way to Kalibo town when the incident occurred. He was reportedly speeding and navigating heavy rainfall, which caused him to fail to see Gerry.
The victim sustained a head injury and was rushed to a hospital by members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. He was declared dead on arrival.
The suspect is currently in police custody for proper case disposition.
