BACOLOD CITY — The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region reported the recovery of PHP 1.836 million worth of suspected shabu from two separate buy-bust operations here Friday.
Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit arrested 30-year-old Ning and her 20-year-old neighbor, Nik, in Barangay 8, resulting in the confiscation of 160 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 1,088,000.
Police Lt. Richard Legada, assistant CDEU chief, said Ning, a person with disability, was previously arrested for a drug offense and was later released through plea bargaining.
She was tagged as a high-value individual.
Legada said Nik was classified as a street-level individual and was apprehended for a drug offense for the first time.
Her husband was previously arrested for the same offense and is currently inside the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility here, according to Legada.
Meanwhile, 54-year-old Nelio of Barangay Taculing, an electrician, was also arrested by Police Station 2 with 110 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 748,000 in Barangay 2.
The suspects are expected to face complaints for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, which penalizes illegal drug sale, possession, and related offenses.
The PRO-NIR attributed the successful anti-drug operations to its strengthened and sustained campaign against the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region through intelligence-driven operations, inter-unit coordination, and proactive law enforcement initiatives.
The operations followed earlier PRO-NIR anti-drug accomplishments in the region, including PHP 307.542 million worth of illegal drugs seized from March 27, 2025, to March 20, 2026.
