Following the disbandment of the Chery Tiggo EV Crossovers, decorated middle blocker and former captain of the franchise Aby Maraño is looking for a fresh start in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) after signing with the Nxled Chameleons.
The development was confirmed on Jan. 13, 2026, after speculations finally ended when the Chameleons formally welcomed Maraño via a social media post.
Maraño is also hoping that the third time’s a charm after her past two stints with the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers and Chery Tiggo both ended in disbelief, making her one of the few players to go through back-to-back disbandments.
From two veteran-laden franchises, Maraño will be jumping to a younger and rebuilding Nxled squad that faced turmoil during the past two PVL conferences.
With the addition of Maraño and other big names this offseason, the Chameleons are seeking a better finish in the PVL and a more consistent outing in every conference.
Since joining the prestigious volleyball league in 2023, the Chameleons have only managed to secure a maiden playoff berth during the 2025 PVL on Tour.
Although the conference was a preseason format, the achievement marked a significant breakthrough for a team that had struggled in the All-Filipino and Reinforced Conferences.
Maraño is expected to bring her locker room leadership to the Chameleons, just like her huge impact when she was still playing for the Cargo Movers and the EV Crossovers.
Aside from the former national team standout, Nxled also acquired the services of former Petro Gazz core members Jonah Sabete, Djanel Cheng and Ranya Musa.
Rounding out Nxled’s offseason landings is the acquisition of veteran middle blocker Aduke Ogunsanya, who was let go by the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
