BACOLOD City – The La Carlota City Public Information Office (PIO) in Negros Occidental warned its constituents against persons who scam food delivery providers and couriers.
This advisory was posted on the Facebook account of the PIO on Wednesday, after a businessman was victimized by a Tagalog-speaking individual who ordered food amounting to P8,000.
The businessman brought the food to the City Hall per instruction of the caller who reportedly introduced himself as a government official.
“Ginapaandaman ang tanan nga pumuluyo sg ciudad sang La Carlota, labi na ang may delivery service, nga maghalong sa scammer nga nagatawag nga ma-order kag mapa-deliver sang inyo produkto,” the PIO said.
The PIO also posted on social media the cellular phone number – 0965-8609712, that was reportedly used by the alleged scammer, for public awareness to prevent the same from happening.
They tried to contact the number but it could not be reached anymore.
Meanwhile, the city government through Mayor Rex Jalando-on has paid for the food delivered to the City Hall, as he felt sorry for the inconvenience to the victim.
