The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) VI will launch the 2025 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) this July to assess the economic conditions of Filipino households nationwide.
Implemented in two rounds, the survey will take place in July 2025 and January 2026, running alongside the Labor Force Survey.
According to PSA RSSO VI, 312 field personnel will be deployed in Western Visayas for the 2025 FIES.
This includes 281 Statistical Researchers and 31 Team Supervisors who will conduct interviews and oversee operations across the region.
Province-level deployments include: Aklan with 50 SRs and 5 TSs; Antique with 52 SRs and 6 TSs; Capiz with 51 SRs and 6 TSs; Iloilo Province (excluding Iloilo City) with 50 SRs and 5 TSs; Iloilo City with 53 SRs and 6 TSs; and Guimaras with 25 SRs and 3 TSs.
To ensure data quality and consistency, a series of training programs for field staff began in June and will continue through the first week of July.
“The PSA is committed to collecting accurate data that reflect the living conditions of Filipino families,” the agency said in a statement.
The FIES aims to collect comprehensive data on household income, income sources, expenditures, and other related variables.
It also seeks to analyze income distribution, spending patterns, and inequality levels across families.
Findings from the survey will support estimates of the national poverty threshold and incidence.
Additionally, the data will serve as benchmarks for updating the weights used in computing the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which influences inflation tracking and economic planning.
Data collection for the first round will begin on July 8, while the second round is scheduled for January 2026.
“The cooperation of sampled households is crucial,” PSA emphasized, encouraging participants to provide honest and accurate responses.
Survey findings are instrumental in crafting policies for poverty alleviation and social protection programs, according to the agency.
The FIES, conducted every three years, is among the most comprehensive household surveys carried out by the PSA, with far-reaching policy implications.
