The Philippine Statistics Authority–Negros Occidental registered 1,517 residents during a series of one-time, big-time National ID registration activities in Victorias City, Enrique B. Magalona, and Isabela in May.
The registration drives were conducted to help residents, including vulnerable sectors and Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries, secure official digital identities under the Philippine Identification System, or PhilSys.
In Victorias City, the PSA conducted a three-day registration campaign from May 11–13, 2026, registering exactly 1,001 residents, according to a press release signed by John F. Campomanes, chief statistical specialist of PSA Negros Occidental.
The PSA said the Victorias turnout reflected the “readiness, active cooperation, and collective enthusiasm” of residents to be integrated into PhilSys.
The activity in Victorias was described by the PSA as an intensive and highly coordinated campaign involving field personnel and local leaders.
In Enrique B. Magalona, the PSA held a National ID registration activity on May 14, 2026, registering 172 residents.
The PSA said the Enrique B. Magalona activity was designed to bridge the digital divide and ensure that vulnerable sectors, including 4Ps beneficiaries, are securely integrated into the country’s digital infrastructure.
In Isabela, the PSA also conducted a targeted National ID registration campaign on May 14, 2026, registering 344 residents.
The Isabela activity likewise focused on vulnerable sectors, including 4Ps beneficiaries, and aimed to close gaps in access to official digital identity.
The PSA said the registration drives would help safeguard households’ access to government subsidies and essential public assistance programs as PhilSys becomes increasingly linked to social welfare delivery.
The National ID system serves as the country’s digital foundational identification system and is intended to improve how services are delivered and accessed in the Philippines, according to the official PhilSys website.
The PSA has also said the National ID and its authentication services can support more secure identity verification for public services, including social protection programs.
The Negros Occidental office said the success of the local initiatives showed that the strength of the country’s digital backbone lies not only in technology, but in the inclusion and dignity of the people it serves.
