PSA regional office holds lecture on Civil Registration Month

The Philippine Statistics Authority-Regional Statistical Services Office (PSA-RSSO)-6 conducted lectures in line with the celebration of the 31st Civil Registration Month themed “Strengthening Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Digital Information: The ways to manage the New Normal”.
Registration Officer IV Mary Grace D. Dorilag conducted a refresher lecture for the personnel and staff of RSSO VI on February 10, 2021 regarding Republic Act 9048 and 10172 and the revised implementing rules and regulations (IRR) of RA 9255 including the procedures of correcting erroneous entries in the civil registry documents.
Dorilag also discussed the processes of filing supplemental report for Civil Registry Documents with missing entries and other correction covered by court decrees to enhance the knowledge of the personnel on civil registration.

Statistical Specialist II Jean Lito N. Esapol also conducted a lecture on Marriage Laws on February 19, 2021 at Yeshua Hamashiah Church, Jaro, Iloilo City which was attended by the head of ministries and fifteen pastors.
During the activity, Esapol gave a brief discussion on the requisites of a valid marriage which includes essential and formal requirements like legal capacity of contracting parties and consent of the contracting parties.
procedures and requirements in registration of marriage and guidelines on how to fill up the revised form for certificate of marriage were likewise discussed.
Other concerns of the attendees were also entertained during the open forum. Bishop De Guzman thanked the collaborative efforts and unwavering support of PSA RSSO 6 in this activity which enlightened the pastors of their responsibilities and obligations as Solemnizing Officers.
Esapol also conducted the same lecture on February 24, 2021 in the Association of Reformed Baptist Ministers Incorporated in Lawigan, San Joaquin, Iloilo, which was attended by 21 members pastors and head ministers of the association.

On the other hand, Supervising Statistical Specialist Ma. Goretti M. Novilla gave a brief lecture on Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) for PSA employees on February 26, 2021.
Novilla tackled the different uses of vital statistics specifically in estimating the size and growth of the population, compilation, processing and reporting practices. She also pointed out the sources of vital statistics.
Novilla also presented various infographics which included registered live births in the Philippines for January to September 2020, Philippine marriages statistics for 2020 and registered deaths in the Philippines for 2019 for information of the employees.
