The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office VI registered 57,855 individuals under the National ID System in the first quarter of 2026, surpassing its regional target of 37,160 and reaching 155.69% of goal.
The strong first-quarter turnout underscored Western Visayas’ continued push to expand legal identity coverage, particularly in underserved and hard-to-reach communities where proof of identity can affect access to public services and financial assistance.
All provinces in Region VI exceeded their respective registration targets.
Iloilo posted the highest accomplishment with 29,570 registrants, or 187.15% of its target.
Capiz followed with 11,796 registrants, or 132.24% of target.
Antique registered 10,361 individuals, equivalent to 134.91% of target.
Aklan recorded 3,743 registrants, or 137.61% of target.
Guimaras posted 2,385 registrants, or 116.91% of target.
A significant share of the registrants came from beneficiaries of government social protection programs, including the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and the Social Pension program for senior citizens.
PSA Region VI said these groups were prioritized to help ensure they have valid proof of identity for easier access to government services and financial assistance.
The agency attributed the strong performance to intensified mobile registration operations across barangays, remote communities, and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
In Antique, registration teams reached island communities such as Caluya.
Across the region, field personnel also conducted house-to-house visits for bedridden senior citizens and persons with disabilities to make registration accessible to residents with limited mobility.
The regional office, through its provincial offices, also strengthened coordination with local government units and social welfare offices to facilitate transportation and improve access to registration services, particularly in hard-to-reach areas.
Regional Director Nelida Amolar credited field teams and partner agencies for helping drive the first-quarter results.
“We are bringing National ID services closer to the people, especially those in remote communities and vulnerable sectors. This strong first-quarter performance reflects our commitment to ensure that no one is left behind,” she said.
The PSA said the gains support its broader effort to expand National ID coverage and provide more Filipinos with a reliable and accessible proof of identity.
As of March 31, 2026, cumulative PhilSys registration in Region VI had reached 4,349,562 individuals.
That total represented 89.46% of the region’s population of 4,861,911 based on the 2024 population census, or POPCEN.
